Ugly Kid Joe, LA2, London
This was my first real gig, defiantly my first in London that’s for sure, and possibly the first time I’d travelled to London for anything without an adult (I was 16 at the time).
I don’t recall many details of the show itself other than Tim, Fisher and I standing back for the support band. This was to check out the crowd to see if it would be OK. There wasn’t much of a pit so for Ugly Kid Joe we too the decision to man the fuck up and head into the crowd. We stood there waiting, they take to the stage and bang! The surge of the crowd took us all by surprise and split us up instantly. A quick regroup was required by the sides, seconds later we then pile back into the pit, slightly more prepared.
At the time I thought the show was incredible, probably one of the reasons why I’m still going to gigs all these years later.
The tour was in support of Ugly Kid Joe’s, Motel California album. I’ve no idea who or how many support bands there were.
