Ghost, Royal Albert Hall, London
Greg and I were due to go see Garbage in Manchester, but this was to much of a draw so plans were changed. This was my 6th time seeing Ghost and to be honest was my least favourite time.
They played 2 sets, neither of which really worked in my opinion. The first lacked tracks which truly rocked, when they did arrive, they came too late. The band also now seems to have 2 additional members, neither of which are required. If you’ve not yet seen Ghost, then there is a chance that you’ve potentially missed the boat, unless they change, their prime has past.
Their show right now reminds me of Green Day’s. It is fun to watch but once you’ve seen it a couple of times you don’t need to see it again. The jokes for example are still identical to what they were on the previous tour. Ironically one thing that did change really annoyed me, their roadies are always dressed in black and really reserved. They respect everything about the stage. Tonight they didn’t, they ran on and off without a care in the world.
I think as well which didn’t help with this show is that they had a great opportunity to do something truly spectacular and they didn’t. It’s not everyday that bands play this iconic venue, so when you do, you should do your best to make sure you put on a spectacular show, Ghost tonight didn’t.
There were some great parts to the show, don’t get me wrong, Rats which with was early in the set was good, as was the saxophone moment for example, there just wasn’t enough over the course of the night for me.
